The two northeast english shipbuilding town of Gatshead and Newcastle have undergone a great deal of regeneration of the past few years, feature projects including the sage concert hall, and the new baltic exchange. Just outside gatshead is the ‘angle of the north’ – probably one of the most photographed sculptures in England, its wings are 54 metres (178 feet) wide.
